Use the Remote Control
 
 
Remote Controls can be programmed to perform "Missions" specific to your application.  The default Mission for new Remotes (called "Harvest-Start-Stop" in the Global database) enables the basic functions of starting, stopping, and harvesting data from PIMs.  This is how it works: 
 
(Please note:  Remotes shipped prior to 5/27/2013 use slightly different flashing lights to indicate which function is being performed.  See the old description here.)
 
To harvest data from a PIM:
 
  • Hold the Remote so that it is not pointing toward a PIM (pointing straight up works well). 
  • Click and hold down the Pimware Button.  This is known as "single-clicking".
  • You should see a single flashing light, indicating that the Remote is looking for a PIM.
  • Still holding down the button, point the Remote toward a PIM.  The flashing light will turn off while data is harvested from the PIM.
  • Once the data is harvested (typically <4 seconds), the green light will turn on for 1 second to indicate success.
  • The light will then resume flashing while the remote looks for another PIM.
  • Release the Pimware button.
 
To start a PIM:
 
  • Hold the Remote so that it is not pointing toward a PIM (pointing straight up works well). 
  • Click the Pimware Button twice, holding down the last click.  This is known as "double-clicking".
  • You should see two flashing lights, indicating that the Remote is looking for a PIM.
  • Still holding down the button, point the Remote toward a PIM.  The flashing lights will turn off while the PIM is being started.
  • Once the PIM is running (< 1 second), the green light will turn on for 1 second to indicate success.
  • The lights will then resume flashing while the remote looks for another PIM.
  • Release the Pimware button.
 
To stop a PIM:
 
  • Hold the Remote so that it is not pointing toward a PIM (pointing straight up works well).
  • Click the Pimware Button three times, holding down the last click.  This is known as "triple-clicking".
  • You should see three flashing lights, indicating that the Remote is looking for a PIM.
  • Still holding down the button, point the Remote toward a PIM.  The lights will turn off while the PIM is being stopped.
  • Once the PIM is stopped (< 1 second), the green light will turn on for 1 second to indicate success.
  • The lights will then resume flashing while the remote looks for another PIM.
  • Release the Pimware button.
 
You can practice single-, double-, and triple-clicking by pointing the Remote straight up and watching the number of flashing lights.  Nothing actually happens until the Remote sees a PIM.
 
The Remote Control saves data internally until it can be "uploaded" into PIM Control.
 
To upload the data:
 
  • Place the Remote near, and pointed toward, the USB Reader.
  • Click the "Upload" button in the lower, right corner of the Remote Control window of PIM Control.
  • All of the data accumulated by the Remote will be uploaded and removed from the Remote Control memory.
