Report Control

Report Control

This window appears when you click the Report button in the Mission View.  It lets you control whether the Event associated with this Step is reported to the database and, if so, lets you associate additional information with the Event.  If you enter information into the Read Point, Biz Step, Biz Location, or Comment fields, that information will be attached to the Event.  If any of those fields are blank, and the Event was Uploaded from a Remote Control, the associated entries in the Manage Remotes database is used.  If any of those fields is blank, the associated entry in the Event Settings window will be used.  If that is also blank, the Event field will be left empty.

Pressing the down-arrow at the right of each box will display the list of entries that are already in the database.  This lets you avoid retyping commonly used values.

Alternate Report

Use this field to request that a copy of this Event be sent to another database, e.g. automatically send the data read by the receiver of a shipment to the original sender's database.  If this is the first Step in the Mission, all Events generated by the Mission will be forwarded.  Otherwise, only this Event will be forwarded.

There are six options for what you enter into this field:

Connection String
a standard SQL Server database connection string for the destination database
Pimware hosted database name
the name of the recipient's Pimware hosted database
"first"
find the first "ReportTo" item in the PIM's Log and use it's value as a Pimware hosted database name.
"last"
find the last "ReportTo" item in the PIM's Log and use it's value as a Pimware hosted database name.
"all"
send to every Pimware hosted database listed in logged "ReportTo" items.
"none"
don't send to anyone else

If the Event is being forwarded to a Pimware hosted database( PWHD), it is sent on behalf of the "reporter" user.  This user is defined for all PWHDs and only has enough rights to add Events to the database.  You can use PIM Central to reduce this user's rights to PSNone if you want to prevent forwarding to your database.
